What people notice first
Typical problems are a white haze on dark tiles, grit in the grain of a new floor, and a carpet that looks grey after one walk from a dusty room. Deep stains from paint are quoted separately if they need more than a clean.
Prep and after
Before we arrive, and the day after
Keep wet trades off the floor on the day. Lift rugs you care about. After a hard-floor wash, leave shoes off until it is dry. Do not steam a carpet that is still full of plaster dust. Vacuum it properly first.
How long it should last
A cleaned hard floor stays clear if dusty work has finished. Carpets holding plaster dust can still release a little into the air. One follow-up vacuum is normal. Ongoing greyness means sanding has continued.

Questions about this visit
Can you clean floors before the carpet goes down?
Yes. Cleaning bare floors and edges before a carpet fit stops the fitter laying onto grit. Tell us the fit date on the form.
Will you soak a new wood floor?
No. New and freshly finished timber is damp-wiped only if the fitter’s guidance allows it. If the floor must stay dry, we say so and vacuum and detail instead.
Do you remove paint from floors?
Light spots can be part of a quoted visit. Widespread paint, adhesive pads and silicone on floors are priced as paint and adhesive removal so the method matches the mark.
What about carpets fitted too early?
We vacuum them thoroughly. We cannot undo damage from grit walked in for weeks, and we will not soak a carpet to “wash out” plaster dust.
Are stairs included?
Stairs are included when they are on the quote. They are often the dustiest route in the house, so mention them rather than assuming a downstairs-only price.
