What people notice first
The usual complaint is a new kitchen that looks grey on the top of the wall units and gritty inside the plinth. Stickers and blue film on a hob are the other common request. If the units are not fitted yet, wait.
Prep and after
Before we arrive, and the day after
Clear crockery and food before we arrive. Leave protective film on until we are there if it is still holding dust off the steel. After the clean, load cupboards once the worktop is dry. Run the extractor if dust is still in the air from other rooms.
How long it should last
A kitchen stays clean if no one is still cutting boards or sanding arches in the doorway. Film and sticker residue should be gone in that visit. New silicone needs the fitter’s cure time before it is scrubbed, so fresh beads are left alone.

Questions about this visit
Do you clean inside new kitchen cupboards?
Yes, when they are empty. We wipe shelves, hinge areas and the carcass. Cupboards full of plates are wiped on the outside only unless you empty them.
Can you take film and stickers off a new hob?
Yes. Protective film and retail stickers are part of a kitchen clean when they release cleanly. Baked-on adhesive is quoted with paint and adhesive removal.
Is the oven included?
Fronts, glass and an empty new oven interior are included when agreed. We do not strip a heavily cooked-on oven as if it were an appliance-restoration visit.
What if silicone has smeared on the worktop?
Fresh, uncured silicone is a fitter’s job to replace. Cured smears can be cleaned when a test shows the worktop will not mark. Tell us the worktop material.
Should the kitchen be cleaned before the rest of the house?
Clean it with the rest of the after builders visit, or after dusty work in the adjoining room has stopped. Cleaning it first and then sanding the hallway undoes it.
