The sign is a white line on skirtings and a haze in sunlight. People also notice it in contact lens cases, on black appliances and inside a hoover that now blows dust back. If the plaster is still dark and damp, it is too soon.
Prep and after
Before we arrive, and the day after
Close off finished rooms before sanding in future. On the day, the sanding must have stopped. Afterwards, ventilate, wait, and vacuum settled dust the next morning before you make the beds.
How long it should last
Removed properly, plaster dust should not keep coating the house. A light settlement the next day is normal. A new heavy film means sanding or a ceiling repair has started again.

When is plaster dry enough to clean?
When the plasterer says it can be touched and the surface is no longer dark with moisture. Cleaning wet plaster marks the wall and is not useful.
Why not just wipe plaster dust?
It is fine and dry. A wipe turns it into smears and pushes it into grain and carpet. Vacuum first, then wipe.
Will the dust come back tomorrow?
A light settle can, because some was still in the air. A heavy return means more sanding. We say this before you book a second full visit.
Do you clean radiators?
Yes. Fins and the wall behind, where plaster dust hides and then blows out when the heating goes on.
Is this different from general debris removal?
